MADE FOR THE SKY (words and music by E.P. Schwartz) You and me we were forged in a sun steel and gossamer every single moment and everyone but time blows against us like we're windchimes we were made for the sky You and me on the belly of the world riding out every swell and every swirl while time steals moments like a magpie we were made for the sky You and me we were pulled from a star and then we cooled and we formed the things we are And time torments us like a gadfly we were made for the sky

WHITE FOLKS WITH ACOUSTIC GUITARS I was looking through my playlist I'll admit I was a little embarrassed I like to think I'm a little more eclectic than this It was just miles and miles of White folks with acoustic guitars sitting in the parks and playing in the bars gonna tell us to change the way we are and teach us how to love White folks with acoustic guitars approximating Dylan and putting out tip jars saving the world one D chord at a time and teaching us how to love Oh, white folks I'm not too blind to see the heaping mounds of irony I thought there was more to me but the truth is I'm just... CHORUS It's not like I can change the way I am there's no pill I can swallow so accept it, own it, keep on keeping on but free your mind and the rest will follow It's ironic don't you think how this song about my lack of pigment has shifted gears into me white 'splaining how to fix it

WHEN THEY HAD THE NIGHT (words and music by E.P. Schwartz) She didn't think she'd ask him but she had him on the line would it have been so awful if she'd kissed him that time when they were young when they were solid when they had the night He hadn't thought about it for nearly twenty years He didn't know he missed her he was surprised by his own tears when they were young when they were solid when they had the night Neither of them slept that night for the secret they kept that night they both found they wept that night She thought it best not to call him he thought it best to let it lie they never spoke again it all faded again in time when they were young when they were solid when they had the night

MIDNIGHT LEAF BLOWING I saw a woman midnight leaf blowing I watched her quietly in disbelief It was like an act of violence, pushing them to her neighbors yard when she was done her lawn was on fleek She'd mow the lawn and touch the trim up vacuum the porch with some kind of rage she had a gait that made me think she'd had a hip replaced why was she obsessing so hard at her age at her age Well.. She had this son, she had her mother they were all trapped together they seemed to hate each other at least that's the way it seemed from where I stood when something's wrong inside the house make the lawn look good The three had this dog but they were never happy no matter what it did, they were pissed The day the old lady locked them all out of the house that's a day I'm so glad I didn't miss I found myself some place in between schadenfreude and empathy I know it was pain that fueled their anger it looked like an attempt to control anything, to me She had this son, she had her mother they were all trapped together they seemed to hate each other at least that's the way it seemed from where I stood when something's wrong inside the house make the lawn look good The house was on the market for almost 10 years I don't know why it always seemed nice maybe they were accounting for pain and suffering when they decided on the asking price Now they're gone there's another family there I truly hope they found some peace And here I sit, never even said hello just smug in my pop psychology She had this son, she had her mother they were all trapped together they seemed to hate each other at least that's the way it seemed from where I stood when something's wrong inside the house make the lawn look good So they're gone

Coyote 04:45
COYOTE (words and music by E.P. Schwartz) Texas oil refinery erupts extinction-level event saw on a bathroom TV eh, they're all fine I guess Had brunch with my grandpa he's been dead for 33 years "why don't you text me, scumbag?" that's what he whispered in my ear When the lines of reality are fadin' and the world's gone mad your dreams will rise to the occasion coyote on my roof and he seems to know my fear damn thing almost gave me a gripper the way that he appreared high school sweethearts and movie idols all trying to be with me this room of lost toys is where I prefer to be When the lines of reality are fadin' and the world's gone mad your dreams will rise to the occasion So I drove down to Texas to make a counting of the dead they weren't extinct, just a little rattled mushroom cloud still overhead I asked my long-dead grandmother "is grandpa's cell number new?" I'll just text him to stay in touch but the coyote sees right through When the lines of reality are fadin' and the world's gone mad your dreams will rise to the occasion

THE PLAGUE MASK I put on a plague mask and I dance around I dance across setting sun trying to escape from holy ground I dance between drops of rain between the barbs on the wire I dance until my flesh is gone and I set the moon on fire How do I know it's you? How do I know it's you? How do I know it's you? I just do The devil waits in a circle of salt down at the water line he is ready for the demarcation and I am right on time So I kick away the salt and the devil hands me the keys he says "look upon my new master all hail the new disease!" How do I know it's you? How do I know it's you? How do I know it's you? I just do I put on the plague mask and I dance around I find the righteous and make them go to ground When the devil drives they say "needs must" but what if the devil hits the gas and pops the clutch
